Eating Disorder Treatments

Eating disorders encompass a wide range of weight and food issues experienced by both men and women, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and compulsive overeating. Over exercising and exercise resistance can be a component of these disorders as well. All types of eating disorders greatly affect the quality of life and can have life-threatening consequences if left untreated.

Preventing and treating clients struggling with eating and weight problems is one of Debra’s specialties. In addition to specialized training, Debra has more than twenty years of experience helping individuals with disordered eating habits work toward recovery. She approaches each patient as an individual with unique needs and concerns, and recommends treatment in a non-judgmental manner. Debra is well networked with other professionals in the Piedmont Triad, and throughout North Carolina, who treat eating disorders and is recognized by her peers as an expert in this specialized field of nutrition therapy.

Eating disorders are complex in nature, involving both psychological and physiological components. Debra knows that it is not just about food. Nutrition is just one piece of the eating disorder puzzle. Because of this, eating disorders are best treated by a team that includes a Registered Dietitian, psychotherapist, and physician all with specializations in the Eating Disorder Treatment field. Debra collaborates with physicians, therapists, and families to prevent and treat eating disorders.
